Sinus Fighting Strawberry and Cucumber Smoothie

Do you suffer from sinus related allergies, such as hay fever?

Is so, then you know the symptoms all to well – runny eyes, sneezing, itchy nose and eye, sore throat, etc.

Rather than taking tablets that make me feel drowsy, I turn to this sinus fight smoothie with a blend of natural ingredients:

  • strawberries for vitamin C, a natural antihistamine
  • chia seeds to help clear mucus
  • cucumber for its soothing, anti-inflamatory properties, and
  • coconut water for hydration.

This smoothie is a natural antihistamine without the side effects that can be experience when taking tablets, and it tastes great!

Strawberry and Cucumber Smoothie

Ingredients

Serves: 1

  • 1/2 Tablespoon chia seeds, soaked in 2 tablespoons water for about 10 minutes
  • handful strawberries, washed and trimmed, fresh or frozen
  • 2/3 banana, frozen
  • 2cm piece of cucumber
  • Juice of 1/2 lime
  • 1/2 cup coconut water
  • 1 teaspoon rice malt syrup (optional)

Method

  1. Add all ingredients to blender and blend until smooth. If it is too thick add some more water or coconut water.

Time Saver Tip

  • This smoothie will keep in the fridge for 24 hours.
  • Fruit can be fresh or frozen.
