If you are looking for a yummy way to maintain your optimum weight, then this strawberry oat smoothie has it all:

  • Strawberries that are low in calories, contain virtually no fat but are high in antioxidants, and
  • Oats to boost your protein.

Starting your day with a good, healthy supply of protein will help you to control your appetite (i.e.: lose weight), support your metabolism and assist your body with blood sugar regulation.

Have you heard of the superfruit Baobab?

The baobab fruit is one the most nutrient rich foods on the planet, containing fourteen essential vitamins and minerals. Baobab dries naturally on the tree branch. The pulp is separated from the seeds and sieved to produce a delicious, nutrient-dense, raw wholefood that when consumed will help revitalise, energise and boost your immune system. I like to add baobab to my smoothies as it gives it a lovely sherbert-ie taste.

I am fan of Baobab because it contains:

  • Six times more vitamin C than oranges
  • Twice as many antioxidants as gojiberries
  • More iron than red meet
  • Twice as much calcium as milk, and
  • Six times more potassium than bananas.

Cantaloupe + Lime Smoothie

Back on track smoothie

After a fabulous but busy weekend of catching up with friends and eating out, this is my ‘back on track’ go-to smoothie. I often have this smoothie on a Monday morning, it gets my energy levels up for the week ahead.

Cantaloupe (or rock melon as we call it in Australia) is full of fiber, potassium and vitamin C, all great for supporting heart health. With the high water content in all summer melons, it assists in keeping your body well hydrated – great if you have over indulged on the weekend.

The lime juice is alkalising and great for reducing inflammation, assisting with digestion and for maintaining glowing skin and hair.

While the cashew nuts give it a lovely creamy texture and provide protein to fill you until your next meal. The spinach leaves give a hit of iron and calcium, both of which are essential for bone health and increasing your energy levels.
