Feel better today: Add Cinnamon to your diet

Peaches and Cinnamon

I love the spice cinnamon. I add it to my smoothies, to my breakfast porridge and to my homemade granola. It adds a taste of ‘sweetness’ without the need to add sugar.

Cinnamon has also been used for centuries as a medicinal spice.  Cinnamon can be used to treat muscle spasms, vomiting, diarrhea, infections, the common cold and loss of appetite. Cinnamon can also assist with lowering blood sugar levels in people with diabetes.

Here is my latest (and currently favourite) smoothie that will have you adding cinnamon to your diet in no time.

Peaches and Cinnamon Smoothie

  • 1/2 Cup Almond Milk
  • 2 Peaches or Nectarines, cut into chunks
  • 1 Frozen Banana
  • 1/2 teaspoon chopped fresh mint leaves (optional)
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon

Put all ingredients into a blender and puree.

This will make a single serve smoothie, feel free to double the quantity to make a second helping for the next day – perfect for breakfast on the go.
