Conscious Beauty: Healing Floral Toner

Healing Floral Toner

Did you know that this month is organic September?

Organic September is the UK’s biggest celebration of all things organic – including the recognition of beauty products that are certified as using organic ingredients, that have been sustainably and ethically source in their production.

In support of organic September, I am today sharing with you my super easy recipe to make your own toner.

In the past, toners got a bad rap. They are often made from alcohol, fragrance, and other skin-harming ingredients. But a good natural toner has a purpose and is made of skin-loving organic ingredients.

A good toner is designed to remove any residual dirt from your skin, as well as preparing your skin for moisturising.

This toner is one of the first beauty products that I made for myself in order to avoid using a toner with alcohol and fragrance added to it.

Recipe: Healing Floral Toner

Ingredients

  • 4 + 1/2 Tablespoons Organic floral Rosewater
  • 2 teaspoons Aloe Vera juice

Method

  • Mix together and store in an airtight bottle. Store out of direct sunlight.

Usage

  • Apply to face morning and night before using a moisturiser.
  • It is suitable for all skin types including those suffering from Rosacea.
  • This toner will keep for up to three months.
  • For a summer refresh, and to treat sunburn, keep it in the fridge.
  • This also makes a lovely body spray, which I use in place of perfume.

Why Rosewater and Aloe Vera

Aloe vera’s astringent, antiseptic qualities promote healing and regeneration. While organic distilled rosewater is an ancient skin elixir said to relieve spots, redness and rashes. Rosewater is a traditional Ayurvedic remedy for itching and watery hay fever eyes.

I like to buy my rosewater from Akamuti, their products are organic, fair trade and ethically sourced.
